Every foreigner who lives or stays in Thailand longer than 90 days must report to Thai immigration with details of where they’re living. For those of us, like me, who’ve lived in Thailand for years at the same address, it’s really irritating. Every 90 days, I still have to contact the Thai immigration department and tell them I still live where I lived six years ago. But, there’s no way around it.

If you have a long-term visa, or work in Thailand, if you’re late with your 90 day reporting, you will be fined. If you report yourself to immigration, the fine starts at 2,000 baht and goes up by 200 baht every additional day you are late. If you don’t report and you’re caught, the fine starts at 5,000 baht and increases by 200 baht per day. One of my friends recently paid a 9,000 baht fine (around $285) simply because he forgot to tell Thai immigration he was still living at the same address he’d been at for 15 years. Crazy, eh? So, make sure it doesn’t happen to you. Here’s how.

How to Report Your 90-Day Address Notification – If you live in Bangkok, you must either report your address in person or send someone to do it for you. It used to be you could do this by mail every 90 days but the Thai immigration has now stopped this for those in Bangkok and a person physically going to the Immigration Department is necessary. However, take heart. It doesn’t have to be you. You can pay a maid, a driver, a motorcycle taxi guy, a friend, a spouse – anyone can report for you. (Make sense yet? Nah, not to me either!)

What to Do When You Arrive at the Immigration Department – Head to the reception desk and tell them you want to do your 90-day address report. They will give you a copy of form TM.47, which you must fill in correctly and then attach to it a photocopy of your passport’s main page, a photocopy of your work permit or visas, and a photocopy of your entry/exit card (the white card stapled into your passport by immigration when you arrived in Thailand). Occasionally, I haven’t been asked for any photocopies when I’ve gone but it’s best to be safe than sorry. Just take them with you anyway.

Go to the counter you’re told to report to, hand everything in and wait. Your passport should be returned to you in less than 15 minutes with the lower part of form TM.47 returned to you as your receipt, plus a new copy of form TM.47 for your next 90-day reporting.

That’s it until the next 90 days are up. Then, you’ll have to do this all over again. Welcome to Thailand!

Reporting Your 90-Day Address Notification Via Registered Mail – If you’re outside Bangkok, you can do your 90-day reporting via registered mail. (The Thai immigration website actually doesn’t specify this but I’ve been told repeatedly at the Immigration Department in Bangkok, if you live in Bangkok it must be done in person or by another human being. Registered mail will not be accepted).

Gather together all of the same documents (copy of passport pages, entry/exit card) and a completed form TM.47. Put all these in an envelope, along with an SAE – so that the lower part of form TM.47 can be returned to you as your receipt.

Mail this at least seven days before your 90-day notification expires. If you do it after, it will be rejected and you will be fined. Send everything to:

90 Day Registration
Immigration Dept.
Division 1
120 Moo3
Chaeng Wattana Road, Soi 7
Laksi, Bangkok 10210

The receipt will be returned to you within a week to 10 days and just make sure you keep this for your records to prove you did report as you’ll need to send a copy of this the next time you do your 90-day reporting.

Customizing Your Home Features

Crediting to the writer for this fantastic article, which is a fantastic resource for demolition Los Angeles.

In the last decade, home improvement shows have been popping up everywhere. There’s even a whole channel (HGTV) dedicated to the home. With so many shows claiming to have great ideas and information about home renovation, it can be confusing to know which ones to watch, and it’s impossible to watch them all. Here is my guide to the Top 5 Home Improvement Shows on television. They are informative and entertaining, making them perfect for people who actually need renovation ideas to those who simply like to dream and have fun watching others’ home improvement adventures.

5. Generation Renovation
HGTV
This show features homeowners who have gone beyond a typical renovation. The people featured in this show do unique renovations that are specific to their tastes, which makes it fun and interesting to watch. When most of the renovation shows out there tell you what to do to appeal to a broad base of buyers, this show features people who renovate simply for themselves. You may not agree with all of the choices, but you won’t be bored.

4. Income Property
HGTV Wednesdays 9:30pm/8:30pm Central
If you’ve ever wondered what it would take to turn your unused basement or garage into a rental unit for extra income, this show is for you. People looking to make extra money or increase the value of their home get expert advice about turning unused space into a rental unit. They get to choose from 2 floor plans, both having pros and cons, and a team of experts makes it into a reality. This show is full of information and shows the realities of renovation for profit.

3. Bang For Your Buck
HGTV Fridays 9:30pm
Watching this show is like watching Antiques Roadshow or a home improvement game show as you try and guess whose renovation got the most bang for its buck. Each episode features 3 homeowners from the same city who renovated the same room with the same budget. A designer host and local real estate expert go through each one and trash—I mean discuss—the choices the homeowners made and why they were good or bad. At the end, you find out which of the 3 made the biggest return on their investment. This show is educational if you’re agonizing about what decisions to make in a renovation. Personally, I love to watch it and say things like, “Who on earth would pick a light fixture like that? Don’t you know no one’s going to want to buy your house now?” Come on, it’s fun.

2. This Old House
PBS Check Local Listings
I will admit, I used to think that this show was just a bunch of boring guys in tool belts and flannel shirts shooting the breeze about flathead vs. Phillips screwdrivers. That is, until we bought our first home, an 1885 traditional that needed a lot of work. All of the sudden, episodes showing how to drain a cast iron radiator and whether or not to preserve old tile were fascinating. Details from plumbing to insulation drew me in, and I finally appreciated how knowledgeable and meticulous these men really are. This show just won its 17th Emmy, which comes as no surprise. If you’re battling the beast of an old house, this show is a must-see.

1. Flip This House
A& E Saturdays 11am/10am Central
This is my favorite renovation show—my DVR never misses an episode. It’s a reality series that follows professional house flippers in different cities like Atlanta, San Antonio, Los Angeles, and New Haven. Each week a different team is featured and followed, from the purchase of the property, through the flipping process, to the finished product and open house. A lot of the fun is watching the drama between the flippers and their teams as they weather the unexpected like leaky pipes and rotting wood. There are almost always budget overages, and half the fun is seeing the hoops they jump through to complete the project on time. It’s a satisfying show to watch, since you get to see the entire transformation from beginning to end. This show is also educational for anyone who thinks flipping houses is the business for them, or anyone who just wants to improve their own fixer-upper. If you can’t watch this one regularly, check for the San Antonio episodes with Armando Montelongo. His ego creates the most drama out of any of the teams, making his episodes the most fun to watch.

A fast roar out to repair shower leaks Los Angeles for bringing this Associated Content Post!

Many handy individuals seeking to start a business, choose to go into home renovation. This involves buying abandoned and divested homes and restoring them to sell for a profit. Given the freedom of working for themselves and on a flexible schedule, many find this business very rewarding. As rewarding as it may be, there can be many unforeseen pitfalls of going into this type of business that include financial expenditures as well as time constraints that can put your business in foreclosure. Here are a few costs to consider.

Assess your costs

So you’ve just purchased the ideal “handyman’s special” and want to begin working on it. There’s only one problem. You have no idea where to begin. Before purchasing a home that you are looking to renovate, you should get an assessment or inspection of the house and what its issues are. This allows you to fully assess all of the issues and determine whether it is worth fixing. Many times, homes can be too costly to fix up or beyond repair. Other times, you may just not be skilled enough to fix all of the repairs yourself and it may cost you more to contract out the repair than the house is worth. Finding out what can be done, before putting any money down can save you a lot of time and money.

Consider the Time

Think of your house as an investment. It may take you a while before you see any money coming in from this investment, so its important to consider your time restraints. The harder you work on the house, the sooner it can be available for sale. If you are planning to receive a large profit from your work, you may be able to wait longer. However, if you need the money in a short period of time, you will have to work harder to meet that time limit. Renovations projects can take years to complete, so if you are not willing to invest a long period of time into it before you see any profit, you may need to reconsider your options.

Consider the Cost

What may the most important aspect of starting a home renovation business is, money. You will need to manage your money very carefully in this business to avoid spending more than the house is worth. The less you can get the house for, the more money you can use to restore the home to make a profit. Purchasing a home for $80,000 does not leave much room for profit, considering the costs, when you are selling the house for $100,000.

Financing a home, that you are looking to repair, may not always be the best option. This can increase your costs drastically. Not only do you have to factor in the cost of material, labor, taxes and the base price of the home, you will also have add the cost of interest into the mix. Many times, home renovators are not able to balance these costs and end up foreclosing on a home that they are financing. What starts as an endeavor to make money can cost them, not only the existing capital that they already have but a ruined credit, to boot.

Before going into the home renovation business, think carefully about the capital you have to invest. Many times people forget that it is an investment which could take years to reap any profit. Factors such as upfront expenses along with time costs are things to consider before jumping in.

Weight Loss Advice Features

Make sure to stop by how to lose weight today!

When we hear the word “diet”, we tend to tremble a little bit. Suddenly, images of forbidden foods swim before our eyes, taunting us. Potato chips, pizza, chinese food, candy, ice cream. Let’s face it, we all know the odds are stacked against us.

Fatty, unhealthy foods just taste too good, and their hold on us is overpowering. The trick to defeating these cravings that break our diet is to improvise; that is, add a few items to our diet that we weren’t aware could taste good AND be good for us as well.

But keep in mind, there is no magical candy bar that can satisfy our chocolate cravings and melt the pounds away. Determination to stick to your diet is still key. You must still have the strength to hold up your hand and snub the McDonald’s Cheeseburger that calls to you every time you pass by. But now, we’ve got a bit more ammunition on our side.

The problem most people find with dieting is the repetitive blandness inherent in certain foods. Invest in a few spices. Used in simple moderation, you could prepare chicken cutlets each night of the week and have it taste different every time. Grilled with Cajun Seasoning one night, sauteed with oregano and rosemary another, marinated in citrus a third night, etc. Spices can open up doors of flavor on foods that you never thought to walk through before. Recipes are plentiful, simple search the internet and a wealth of simple yet diet-effective recipe ideas are revealed.

Flaxseed is inexpensive and extremely healthy. It’s tasteful versatility allows it to be used in various dishes, with its strong antioxidants providing cancer-fighting benefits. Add a tablespoon of flaxseed to your salad, add some to a homemade wrap, look for recipes using flaxseed in muffins and bread, and add a spoonful to your cereal. But make sure to use real flaxseed, supplements are not as helpful, and you should always pay close attention to the labels on flaxseed products; for example, pregnant women should not consume large amounts of flax.

Speaking of salad, its easy to understand why most people turn up their nose at the leafy concoction. But a little creativity can change your whole perspective. Instead of lettuce leaves, try using spinach. Tastier and healthier, its a welcome change. And again, search for recipes. You can add some of that leftover grilled chicken to your salad, or throw on some Parmesan cheese, or add a few ingredients not previously thought of. Cocktail shrimp, avocado, mango. A simple walk through the produce aisle can yield dozens of variations.

For a treat, get yourself a bar of dark chocolate. I’m not suggesting gorging yourself on the entire bar, as that kind of defeats the purpose of a diet. But taken in small moderation each day, dark chocolate can satisfy that craving of forbidden indulgence while at the same time providing a few healthy benefits. Dark chocolate has been found to help lower blood pressure and fight heart disease. And who said that everything that tastes so good must be so bad?

Garlic has long been known to be healthy as well as flavorful. Don’t be afraid to use it to your advantage to flavor meats, fish, soups, and other dishes. Purchase some roasted garlic or make your own and add it to salads.

So you see, a diet doesn’t have to be so scary. It’s all about the approach. Look to a diet to enhance your kitchen creativity and try to find healthy food combinations to combat the boredom of eating what were once bland, unappealing foods, but are now culinary, dietary masterpieces challenging your taste buds.

Decorating Your Bedroom Stories

9:21 pm in Uncategorized by church

The Following Story is from Associated Content and brought to yours truly by nautical gifts

Many bathrooms are decorated with a matching bathroom decor set. These usually consist of a tissue box cover, toothbrush holder, toiletry tray, cotton ball or cotton swab holder, and a soft soap dispenser. They come in many different styles and materials at home decorating stores.

Another option is to craft a bathroom decor set yourself. By using plastic canvas and different types of yarn or ribbon, you will be able to make a bathroom set that perfectly matches you personal decor.

Materials Needed for the Plastic Canvas Bathroom Set

1. Plastic Canvas
2. Yarn needle and scissors
3. Your choice of yarn
4. A pattern

Create a Tissue Box Cover

The tissue box cover is simply made by creating a decorated plastic canvas box with an open bottom. It is important to measure your tissue box and make the plastic canvas pieces slightly larger. Also, be sure to measure the opening where the tissues come out.

Stitch your pattern all over the plastic canvas pieces before assembling the tissue box cover. After that is done, simply whip stitch the edges of the piece together with a matching yarn color.

Create a Toothbrush Cup

A plastic canvas toothbrush cup is also easy to make. This consists of nothing more than a basic cylinder fashioned from a circle for the base and a long rectangle for the top. This can be designed with a fabric liner to hold the toothbrushes, or as a slip-on cover for a glass or plastic bathroom accessory.

Create a Toiletry Tray

A toiletry tray can be used to hold a brush and comb, toothpaste tubes, or other toiletries. It is made from a rectangular or oval base and short rectangular sides. If you make an oval tray, the sides will be made from one long strip that bends around the top of the oval. These sides should be stitched on two matching strips of plastic canvas that are sewn together back to back. This will help them stand up better and will look the best.

Create a Cotton Ball Box

A cotton ball, cotton swab, or other accessory box is a little more difficult to complete. This will be made from a base consisting of a rectangle or square and four sides. After making the yarn decorations on all pieces, stitch them together to form a box and line it with felt fabric. Then create the lid out of a slightly larger square and shorter sides. Line this as well. The lid has to be slightly larger to fit down over the top. To make a handle for opening it, you can use a loop of plastic canvas, a large bead or button, or an actual small decorative knob that is screwed through a small hole in the lid.

Creating a personally designed bathroom decor set from plastic canvas is a great way to decorate your bathroom. With these matching pieces and some attracting towels and curtains, you will have a bathroom that you will be proud of.

Creating Surfboard Inspired Bedroom Decor – The surf board is the ultimate symbol of summer, of endless ocean waves, salt air, soft sand, and hours of fun. It’s also a great inspiration piece for decorating your bedroom. With a little creativity, a small budget, and a great board for inspiration you can have a wonderful bedroom that represents a summer of surfing.

First, you’ll need an awesome surfboard. Do you have a long board or a short board? Bright colors or soft muted shades? The color of your surfboard is very important because it will influence the color of your room.

After you have your chosen board, look at the colors and decided what color you want your room to be. If your board is orange and white, you may want to have a white room or maybe a contrasting color, such as pale blue. If your board is red and black, you may want to go with a muted taupe color. It’s best to pick a neutral wall color so that your surfboard will stand out. You can go to Home Depot to get help choosing the right shade and finish for your bedroom paint.

After your walls are painted, you’ll want to examine your furniture. Does your furniture match your board and walls, or does it need updated? A fresh coat of paint on a dresser or headboard can do wonders in updating your look. You could even choose a color right out of your surfboard. Once your furniture paint is dry, you can arrange your room. You may want to arrange your furniture so that you can see your board from every angle of the room. You could hang your board on hooks on the wall, suspend from the ceiling with fishing line (not a great idea if you will be using it frequently) or, for a more relaxed look, just stand it against the wall.

Now you’ll need a few accessories to decorate your room. For curtains and a bed spread, you could go to Wal-mart, Sears, or even a specialty store to find surfing linens. Or you could be creative and sew together some cool beach towels instead.

Make a trip to your local dollar store, super mart, or craft store, and search for a few beach themed items: fishing net, sea shells, sharks teeth, and posters. A framed, vintage poster (try EBay!) of the movie, “Endless Summer” would be a great addition to any surf room. You can hang the fishing net in a corner of the room as a small canopy to hold pillows, stuffed animals, or plastic shells. Or you could hang it from the ceiling and drape it behind your headboard for a light, airy feeling. Put some large shells on your bureau, and string the shark teeth with fishing line and use them to decorate a lamp or just string them along the wall. If you have pictures from trips to the beach, you may want to frame them and hang them in a block on a wall.

Once your room is decorated, you could add a little mood lighting, and even shine a direct light on your surfboard to make it really shine. Hang some white Christmas lights over your bed or behind your fishing net for some extra pizzaz and you’ll have an awesome sure room!

Once your all done, sit back, relax, and enjoy your hard work!

I’ve always been fascinated by Ivanka Trump. Actually not by her, per se, but more by what having Donald Trump, a billionaire father, did for her in success in business, the fashion world and in life. Moderately talented and pretty enough, Ivanka Trump’s success comes more from her father’s influence and money than it does from any special qualities she has. Now Ivanka is launching an expansion of her jewelry line. Teaming up with shoe manufacturer Marc Fisher, Ivanka’s flagship store will be soon selling shoes and accessories.

Ivanka Trump was born to billionaire Donald Trump and socialite, Ivana Trump, in 1981. The heiress went to school at Choate, an exclusive private boarding school then, after two years at Georgetown University transferred to Wharton Business School where she graduated with a B.S. in Economics. From there she began a minor career in modeling with campaigns for American luminaries like Tommy Hilfiger.

Much of what Ivanka Trump has done though is through contacts of her father, Donald, and because of who she is. Her modeling career was more about ‘billionaire heiress Ivanka Trump’ than it was about her modeling ability or beauty (although she is pretty, she’s not top fashion model material). She once hosted Miss Teen USA pageant, an outfit her father partly owns, and filmed several episodes of her father’s reality TV show ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’. With a bit of a bland personality, there’s little doubt she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to make shows like that on her own merit.

In business, Ivanka Trump has worked for several branches of her father’s real estate empire and has written a book called ‘The Trump Card’, purported to teach young women about being successful in business and in life. Of course, success like Ivanka Trump’s isn’t possible for the vast majority of women who bought her book, simply because they don’t have access to business opportunities because of who their father was or what influence he has.

Ivanka Trump also owns a jewelry shop on Madison Avenue. Called ‘Ivanka Trump’, it currently sells affordable jewelry. With this partnership with Mark Fisher, the boutique should soon be expanding to selling shoes, accessories and eventually handbags and wallets. Again, good for Ivanka but, don’t for a minute think any normal American woman at her age (28) would have the money or opportunity to open a shop on Madison Avenue.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Ivanka Trump. She’s taken the opportunities she’s been given, albeit most of them opportunities no average American woman would be given, and done well. I simply think it interesting women like Ivanka Trump tout their success with little thought their success was based more on their father’s success than on anything they did that was extraordinary.

Make efforts to see AM USA today!

Securing your windows and doors is extremely important. Securing your windows and patio doors is so easily fixed it’s a shame to see anyone lose family heirlooms, keepsakes or anything of value because of neglect of this simple step. The fastest, cheapest and easiest way to secure your home is secondary window locks.

You can find secondary window locks at any home store for anywhere from $.49 cents to $5. Even if you have a big house you can usually put window locks on all of your operating windows for less than 25 bucks. Here’s a cold hard fact. Burglars know what type/brand of window was installed in your home. They also know that when your housing tract was built, the builder put the same type of windows in all of the houses.

If they can find a flaw with one window “Brand X” all they have to do is to now seek out which housing tracts have that style of windows and then they know where lots of homes exist that they can break into very easily. Once the flaw is found with a window, they can usually get into that window in about 5 seconds.

One of the most secure “tract grade” aluminum windows out there is a particular window that I have had a lot of experience with. The manufacturer’s pride themselves on passing the strict California forced entry codes, where the window is scrutinized by several “previous” burglars or security experts. If these people cannot get into the window within 5 minutes without breaking the glass, the window passes the test.

This particular window actually has a secondary lock built in and in my experience was the most secure window I had seen at that level. It wasn’t until a certain installer of mine showed me how he could break into the window in less than 10 seconds. Now of course he is an expert with years of experience working with this window, but you can rest assured that if he knows how to do, there are several others who know, including burglars.

Putting secondary window locks on your windows is not only smart but it’s easy as well. Why not remove this risk by placing secondary window locks on your windows? I recommend the type of lock that requires you to drill a small hole in the window and has a rod that pushes through that hole. This keeps the sliding window from sliding side to side and from sliding up and down which is very important because that’s how most windows are broken into, by lifting them up in the track and then sliding them open.

Right now you should walk over to one of your horizontal sliding windows. Now open it just enough to get your hand around both sides of the moving vent. Then, see if you can lift the sliding part of the window up. If you can, you need to make adjustments so that this can’t happen.

Another easy fix is sliding patio doors. Sliding glass doors are probably the easiest way to get into your home. I have a salesperson who has years of experience with many different types of sliding glass doors. When he goes to a customers home to look at a sliding glass door he walks outside and asks the client to lock him out. He then jiggles and jimmies the door until it pops open and he walks in. Sliding glass doors are a favorite of burglars for this very reason. They are the most “unsecured” section of your home. You really need a secondary lock for this reason.

I recommend the charlie bar. Click on that link and you can see a picture of what a charlie bar is. Sure the little foot bolts work well in some instances and can be less visually intrusive. However, a charlie bar serves the same purpose as a footbolt and serves as a “broomstick” in the track as well. The type of charlie bar we use also has a pin lock which keeps the panel from being lifted at the same time.

This should really be the first step you take when beginning to secure your home, especially if you have a sliding glass door on the first floor. So there you have it for less than 50 dollars you can increase your home’s security and your peace of mind. Crediting to Trampolines for bringing the following blog post

Gardening is a great pastime. Digging in the fresh soil tends to be therapeutic. Lush landscaping adds to your home’s value. And you can significantly slice your grocery bill by producing your own produce. By employing these suggestions, you can save on the tools and supplies you’ll need to get started.

Begin with a buck. Those dollar stores we have come to know and love usually stock small gardening items like tools, gloves, and pots. But don’t stop there. Stroll through the aisles and use your imagination. A dishpan could become a tidy, portable potting station; a pair of kitchen shears can prune small shrubbery or deadhead roses; a carton of Epsom Salt makes outstanding organic fertilizer.

Got milk? Plastic gallon milk or water jugs supply a slew of useful garden gadgets. Slice off the bottom three inches and fill with soil for an indoor seed starter or bait with beer to slay slugs. Use the remaining top as a miniature greenhouse for sprouting outdoor plants. Jugs full of water placed throughout the garden will ward off frost. Cut off the base at a slant and you’ve got yourself a handy scoop for soil or fertilizer.

Help yourself to seconds. Scope out yard sales, estate sales, swap meets, and even curbside “spring cleaning” piles. People sometimes get rid of perfectly good stuff when they move to a smaller home, have a death in the family, or simply get newer, fancier tools. You might get lucky and find something you need in good condition for a great price.

Don’t throw that away! The next time you are about to stuff something in the trashcan or recycle bin, look at it. An empty egg carton can be used as an early season seed starter. A garden hose with a leak or two can become a drip irrigation hose. Old pantyhose or strips of a worn t-shirt can be used to tie tomato or cucumber plants to stakes. A slice of a broken mini-blind is converted into a plant stake when labeled with permanent marker. Think outside the flowerbox!

Take care of what you have. Start by keeping your tools clean. Use a wire brush or damp cloth to wipe off dirt before storing. Have any blades sharpened once a year. It’s a good idea to sand any rough spots on wooden handles and wipe them with linseed oil at least every few months. Taking the time to maintain what you already have will save you cash in the long run.

If you find that you absolutely need to purchase a new tool, buy wisely. Pick a tool that serves more than one purpose, if possible. For example, if you need a rake to clear rocks from your garden choose one that will also work for spreading mulch. However, don’t pay more for something with fancy “bells and whistles” you will never utilize when the standard, less expensive version will suit. Moreover, always select a product that will last even if it costs a little more. If you have to replace it next year then you are not really saving.
